Bossed Three Times

Bossed Three Times - Madison Faye 4.5 Stars

I loved this one just SLIGHTLY less than Paid For Three Times

description

It was still SMOKIN' HOT...but just a tiny bit less...I dunno...dirty...kinky...something like that. That said I am still really impressed with the writing in these books. I loved all three of the heroes. And the heroine was very likable. Everything was on turbo speed and there was no angst or drama. The characters from Twiced Bossed play a small role in this book. That said I can be read as a stand-alone no problem.

The Witch's Book of Shadows: The Craft, Lore & Magick of the Witch's Grimoire

The Witch's Book of Shadows: The Craft, Lore & Magick of the Witch's Grimoire - Jason Mankey I've always been fascinated with Witchcraft and even dabbled in it when I was in my late teens. This book was an interesting and engaging look at the different types of Book of Shadows used and was filled with a lot of practical information for making your own Book of Shadows.

Told through the author's own personal experiences. As well as Including the history of witchcraft and examples of ceremonies for cleansing and protecting you own BOS, this book offers both the beginner and experienced Witch a little something worth learning.

Full Service

Full Service - Penny Wylder Oh man, I did NOT like this one AT all.

First, the hero was a total one-dimensional cardboard cutout. Having NO chapters devoted to his POV really didn't do this book justice because Jet just came across like a creepy wishy-washy loser.

First, he has her testing out sex toys like some creeper, then they have sex and he disappears for 6 weeks. No phone calls nothing. Oh wait that is not 100% true, he DOES turn on the remote controlled vibe to let her know he is thinking about her. You know that is WAY more acceptable than a message or phone call. Then he returns and basically says "I should have tried harder...my bad" and she drops trou for this guy AGAIN?!

Jet was about as alpha as Pee-Wee Herman...sigh.

The CEO's Baby

The CEO's Baby - Kyle Autumn description

Well, I have to say that I enjoyed this book WAY more than I did the first one. The writing was MUCH better. The pace moved along nicely. The heroine was much more likable than Shiree. Like a TON more likable (lol). Blake was a great hero. He was an asshole manwhore brought down by one "pixie." There is more angst in this one than the first and it's the type of angst I really like, so that was ALL good as well.

description

I did get frustrated by the lack of communication between these two at times. I wanted to grab both of them and yell TALK. My other issue was that this is one of those books that start at the present time, then we go back in time to how their relationship began and move forward. I am not a huge fan of that type of thing unless you get back to the present time within a few chapters. Alas, we spend the majority of the book working back up to the present which inevitably made the ending seem rushed. After all the misunderstandings and hurts between these two more time needed to be given to their present situation in my opinion.

Like I said though I really enjoyed this one much more than the first and look forward to seeing what this author has in store for future books (the next one up is F/F so, unfortunately, a pass for me)

Sice Note: This is going to be me stepping onto my soapbox for a few seconds. I HATE when authors have heroines hitting other people (unless they are trying to kidnap them or do bodily harm.) And I REALLY hate when a heroine continues to slap a hero. Why is this OK? If a hero kept slapping a heroine everyone would be all up in arms...but it seems to be an A-OK thing in romanceland lately as I have read more than a few books lately with this in them.

Usually, I don't get too bothered by things like that, and if it had been one time then maybe I would have let it go, but this heroine slapped the hero a few times and it really bothered me. Hence the soapbox comment. Anyway, said my peace...

Bad Habits

Bad Habits - Lynn Hagen 3.5 Stars

Another good and quick read. The first sex scene in this one was SMOKIN' HOT. Brody was sexy as hell and Pip was a very likable guy.

description

I do wish this author would spend a little more time developing the baddie storylines. For instance, the whole making of new vampires and Pip getting changed was very interesting and could have easily been an ongoing storyline over several books. Instead, we once again have Panahasi coming in to save the day by waving his hand and all is well again. That is pretty much how EVERY baddie situation is resolved in EVERY book.

I think these books have the potential to be excellent if only the stories were fleshed out more and had more depth. Still, after reading (and enjoying) a gazillion books by this author I know what I am going to get so I can't complain too much.

Bossy Valentine: A Steamy Older Man Office Romance

Bossy Valentine: A Steamy Older Man Office Romance - Mia Madison So ummm...this book was OK. But ahh...they go to dinner and the hero puts an OYSTER in her vagina and leaves it in there until they get home and sucks it out...EWWWW

I dunno, but I am guessing that ain't good for the 'ol vag or for the dude consuming it after.

The List

The List - Tawna Fenske description

description

Oh, my goodness was this book CUTE. Super SWEET. Super FUNNY. Super SEXY.

I honestly don't have a whole lot to say about this one. I LOVED it...simple as that. Simon was a smokin' hot piece of geek meat who had a heart of gold. I loved the way he was with his sister and honestly, would have loved to see more interaction between them. As well as between his sister and Cassie.

description

Cassie was a great heroine. Smart and sweet. And I loved her relationship with her sisters as well. When these two were not melting the pages on my tablet they were making me laugh my butt off. This was simply just a really well written...well paced...humourous...low angst read.

Now, this did lose half a star for the less than great epilogue. That's just personal preference. I like marriage and babies. That said, we are most likely getting a book featuring one of Cassie's sisters (seemed that way) so I am sure we will see more of this couple in that (fingers crossed).

Paid For Three Times: A Dark MFMM Romance

Paid For Three Times: A Dark MFMM Romance - Madison Faye HOLY CRAP I LOVED THIS BOOK.

description

This book was off the hook HOT. Well written. Well paced. Three hot as F@CK Dominant heroes. One sassy and very likable heroine. Sex scenes that will make you need to change your panties. On second thought...just take them off beforehand and save yourself the trouble. Ok epilogue with the option of getting an extended one by signing up to for the mailing list.

I'll be adding this author to my must read list after this little gem.

Holding on Tighter

Holding on Tighter - Shayla Black description

2.5 Stars

When I got approved for this book I was SO excited. First Berkley NEVER approves me for ANYTHING...and probably never will again now...sigh. (I seriously think someone in their promo department made a mistake) and second I LOVE Miz Black and this series. Unfortunately, my joy was short-lived...

description

This book was rough right from the beginning. I don't mind OW sex scenes, but I do mind when a heroine sees the hero with the OW and knows they have JUST had sex. And when did Miz Black start with OW sex scenes in her books??

Anyways, Heath was seriously nasty, he was coming on to the heroine and telling her he was coming for her MINUTES after having his dick stuck in an OW in the hallway of a bar. Literally, they were standing RIGHT outside the bar and he was putting the moves on her. Now I could have gotten past that had it not been for the fact that he and the heroine are having sex a couple hours after he JUST had sex with the OW.

At least he showered first, but honestly...NO.

description

AND his sex with the OW is constantly brought up for the first 25% of the book. Add in the fact he JUST lost his wife 7 years previously. AND she is mentioned ad nauseum (as is his manwhore past..I mean we could literally not have a sex scene that wasn't compared to either his wife or one of his plethora of hookups). AND he was in love with a heroine from a previous book. I wanted to call it a day 25% into this thing.

On top of that, I found the heroine annoying as hell. Why can't authors write strong heroines without them coming off like uptight bitches?

That said I was determined to give this the ol college try. So I kept reading and although I got sucked more into the story about the stalker (Miz Black knows how to write a great book) it just never recovered enough from the beginning to make it a wholly enjoyable read. To say I was disappointed is an understatement.

Side Not: That epilogue hurt my brain. Seriously? Could we possibly have name dropped any more characters from previous books? What exactly was the point of having Cutter introduced to EVERY couple from the previous books? It was like the ending of an episode of The Waltons where everyone is saying "GOOD NIGHT" to John Boy!

Punished - A Dark Billionaire Romance

Punished - A Dark Billionaire Romance - Penelope Bloom 3 HURT MY HEAD Stars

This was a pretty good read for me. I've never read anything by this author before but I enjoyed this one enough that I will check out some of her other books.

So like I said I enjoyed this one for the most part. The writing was good. The pace moved along nicely. I loved Logan. He was sexy and Dominant. That said, it did have a couple issues that took my rating down.

description

One, the heroine was a bit annoying to me. Mostly because I legit couldn't figure out what her issue was. She had "trust issues" and this somehow translated into her not being able to get off when having vanilla sex? Which made NO sense to me. Because at the very heart of a BDSM relationship is TRUST. She was trusting enough to have this guy tie her up and blindfold her in his HOME with NO ONE around, but making love...NOOO. And the tennis court scene...no clue what that was all about. Why was Logan so mad?

My other issues was the ex-wife. Her blackmailing scheme was just left hanging. I guess he stopped paying her off, but it's never really mentioned. Also, what happened to her mom? What happened with her Dad who basically stole ALL her trust fund? *shrug*
